Abstract

An ultrathin‐layer polyacrylamide isoelectric focusing gel is described for obtaining highly resolved, nondistorted, reproducible patterns for group‐specific component (Gc) or esterase D (EsD) subtyping. The 1F, 1S, 2 and 1A1 bands of the Gc system were all typeable by isoelectric focusing alone. All common EsD allelic products were easily resolved. Typing Gc or EsD derived from bloodstains was also demonstrated.
