Abstract

1. 1. Two, 12 and 24-month old animals of the Fischer-344 and Sprague-Dawley rat strains were studied with regard to selected parameters of lipoprotein metabolism. 2. 2. A number of strain differences were revealed particularly in the age-related changes of plasma cholesterol and triglycerides. 3. 3. The significance of these differences between strains is discussed with regard to the usefulness of these animals for model studies.
