Abstract

We have interfaced SEC with ESP/MS. The SEC reduces the total number of components entering the ESP/MS source compared of direct injection. SEC/ESP/MS couples a powerful chromatographic size separation technique with a sensitive absolute molecular weight detector. This is an ideal tool for complex mixture analysis. The successively acquired mass spectra contain narrow `cuts' of the overall distribution which simplify the analysis of polydisperse mixtures.
