N2 - Multistep energy migration was studied for 3,3′-diethyl-9-methylthiacarbocyanine iodide (MDTCI) in uniaxially stretched and unstretched poly(vinyl alcohol) films. At low and intermediate concentrations fluorescence anisotropy decay measurements yield completely different results for disordered and ordered systems due to strong redistribution and angular correlation of fluorophores transition moments in ordered polymer matrix. These results and other selected properties of energy transport in uniaxially stretched polymer films were analyzed using the technique of Monte-Carlo simulation.
