Abstract

The general objective of this study was to compare the relative permeability of a few representative chemicals across vaginal, vestibule and uterine tissues, using the rabbit doe as the experimental animal. Mounted tissue, in a standard permeability chamber employing radiolabelled glycerol, sulfate and estradiol, was the basis of the experimental design. All three tissues showed a permeability coefficient of approximately 7x10-6 cm/s. No apparent preference in absorption was observed despite the considerable difference in water solubility of the probe chemicals.
