A Pre-matriculation Course that Focuses on a Metacognitive Approach to Learning

Abstract

In preparation for the first-year curriculum, pre-matriculation courses are offered to incoming medical students prior to orientation and generally focus on basic science content. Here we describe a pre-matriculation course that focuses on the acquisition of metacognitive awareness and skill development to prepare students for success in medical school.
