Area of Expertise

Vic Holmes has taught medical coding for military healthcare providers. He directs the Physical Diagnosis course and Clinical Anatomy program. He directed and converted the Health Promotion & Disease Prevention course into a completely online offering, increasing the flexibility of the instruction for the students and expanding the media with which he offers his courses.
Vic currently uses an extensive graphic arts/design and computer programming background to produce internet, audio, video, and e-book format materials for his students. He created an internet-based attendance-taking program to track student attendance patterns using radio-frequency chips and existing computer software. His current clinical work is providing home-based health care services for the intellectually and physically challenged. He combines medicine with compassion in a home-based care system delivering medical care to the patients in their own homes. This is particularly beneficial to patients with severe mental or physical infirmities that prevent easy access or transport to a routine clinical setting. His creative method of bringing medical care to a greatly underserved population was documented in the UNTHSC news journal.
