Research Interests
Cardiac Arrhythmias, Atrial Fibrillation, Heart Failure, Fibrosis, Sinoatrial Node, Women's Heart Health
Area of Expertise
My research has spanned several translational studies, which explored functional, structural and molecular mechanisms of human heart failure, human sinoatrial node pathophysiology and arrhythmias including Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT) and atrial fibrillation (AF). My studies focus on understanding molecular and structural mechanisms of cardiac remodeling including fibrosis and fatty infiltrations in cardiometabolic diseases and cardiac arrhythmias.
My research program will fill important gaps in identifying cell-specific mechanisms of cardiovascular remodeling as well as determine targets for therapeutic interventions and lifestyle modifications to improve cardiac function in vulnerable patient groups.
Techniques
Electrophysiological approaches including ECG, cardiac structural and functional imaging using echocardiography, primary cell culture, molecular techniques, histopathological analyses and Transcriptomics using next generation RNA sequencing and proteomics.
